Pacific Life Re
Carl Padget

Pacific Life Re, has announced the promotion of Carl Padget from Director, Underwriting to Head of Underwriting and Claims for our Europe business unit. Padget joined Pacific Life Re in February 2009, and since 2013 has led our Europe underwriting team. In his new role, Padget will provide leadership and strategic direction to the Underwriting and Claims functions in Europe, as well as being responsible for our market proposition in each discipline.

Deborah Wyatt

Chaucer, has appointed Deborah Wyatt to lead the development of its new political risk solution for emerged markets.

Together with Chaucer’s market leading emerging markets political risk team, under the leadership of Nick Kilhams, the new emerged markets team will provide our brokers and clients with a centre of excellence for all their political risk and trade credit requirements.

Thomas Buberl - Denis Duverne

After 27 years in the Group, and close to 17 years as Chief Executive Officer, Henri de Castries, Chairman and CEO of AXA, has announced his decision to retire and to step down from the Board of Directors on September 1st, 2016.

Following a comprehensive succession planning process led by AXA's Compensation and Governance Committee under the leadership of Jean-Martin Folz, AXA's Board of Directors unanimously decided at a special meeting held on March 19th, 2016 to separate the functions of Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer, and approved the following appointments effective upon Henri de Castries’ retirement on September 1st:

  • Denis Duverne as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors,
  • Thomas Buberl as Chief Executive Officer of AXA and a member of AXA's Board of Directors co-opted to replace Henri de Castries.

From March 21st, 2016, Thomas Buberl joins the Group Head Office in Paris and is appointed Deputy CEO (“Directeur général adjoint”). He will work closely with Henri de Castries and Denis Duverne to finalize AXA’s new strategic plan, expected to be released on June 21st, 2016, and to ensure an effective leadership transition.


Probitas 1492
James Andlaw - Paul Nolan

Probitas 1492 has announced the launch of a Financial Lines team with the appointment of James Andlaw, Senior Underwriter-Management Liability and Paul Nolan, Senior Underwriter-Professional Indemnity.

The Lloyd’s syndicate has also recruited a Head of Financial Lines, who will drive the team, and a Senior Underwriter–Financial Institutions.  Both are set to join the company before the summer.

The team will write across all sectors, with capacity of US$15million and cover will be available globally. Particular focus will be on developing new and accretive business in countries where Lloyd’s is currently underweight; across Europe, MENA, Asia and South America.

Ben Savill

Fidelis Insurance has announced the promotion of Ben Savill to Group Chief Underwriting Officer.

He assumes this role from Richard Brindle who held it jointly with his position as Group Chief Executive Officer during the inaugural phase of the company, which was founded in June 2015. Savill will assume the Group CUO role in addition to his responsibilities as Bermuda Chief Executive Officer and will continue to be based in Bermuda.

Victor Kuk

Victor Kuk has joined Swiss Re as Head Hub Casualty Asia, based in Hong Kong.

He has more than 15 years of experience in general insurance management especially in strategic planning, business restructuring resulting in profit optimisation, and operation process streamlining.

Prior to joining Swiss Re, he was Chief Risk Officer of Emerging Markets at QBE Insurance Group Limited since October 2014.

China Re
Wang Pingsheng

Mr Wang Pingsheng has been named as the Acting Chairman of China's biggest reinsurance company, China Re, following the resignation of the former Chairman, Mr Li Peiyu.

Shankar Garigiparthy

Lloyd’s, the world’s specialist insurance and reinsurance market, has announced the appointment of Shankar Garigiparthy as Country Manager for India.

In this new role Shankar will be responsible for market development, representing Lloyd’s in discussions with regulators and building business relationships as Lloyd’s seeks to grow its presence in India. Arun Agarwal, Lloyd’s General Representative in India, will continue in his role providing expert guidance and counsel to Lloyd’s.

Philippe Donnet, 55 years old, Generali Italia Country Manager since July 2013, has worked in the insurance industry for many years at the highest international level, holding senior management positions at a number of global insurance groups. Under the leadership of Donnet, Generali Italia accomplished a rapid integration of its business activities, along with a substantial simplification and rationalization of distribution networks, brands, products, operating and organizational structure.
