Ralph J. Nicoletti

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. yesterday announced the appointment of Ralph J. Nicoletti to the company's Board of Directors. 

Mr. Nicoletti is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Tiffany & Co.  Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for both Cigna Corporation and Alberto Culver, Inc.  He began his career at Kraft Foods, Inc. where he served in various financial leadership roles including Senior Vice President Corporate Audit at Kraft Foods, Inc. and Senior Vice President Finance of Kraft North America.

Names senior leaders

Willis Towers Watson has announced a number of senior leadership roles within its Great Britain business.

Announcing the new leadership team, Nicolas Aubert, Head of Great Britain for Willis Towers Watson, said: “We help our clients drive performance by cultivating and growing their talent, and by helping them to unlock potential by quantifying, mitigating and transferring risk. To do this, we have put in place a leadership team that brings more capabilities, analytics and talent in an integrated way to our clients. Willis Towers Watson will continue to provide the services and solutions our clients have been used to receiving from us before the completion of our merger, and will also create new offerings that clients cannot find elsewhere.”

Ailsa King will lead the Client Organisation in Great Britain, the first of three complementary segments, which will embrace sales, account management, regional development, industry focus and marketing activities.

Aubert explained: “This Client Organisation is the intersection between our two other complementary segments – Human Capital & Benefits, led by Marco Boschetti, and Corporate Risk & Broking, led by Alastair Swift – offering the best of Willis Towers Watson knowledge and expertise for domestically domiciled and foreign clients.”

The Human Capital & Benefits segment will focus on: Health & Benefits, led by Kevin Newman; Retirement, led by Peter Rowles; Talent & Rewards, led by Richard Veal; and Technology & Administration Solutions, led by Jane Murray.

The Corporate Risk & Broking segment will feature: Broking, led by Phil Smaje; Facultative, led by Alistair Lester; Financial Lines, led by Mary O’Connor; Property & Casualty, led by Alistair Rivers; and Transportation Lines, also led by Alastair Swift.

Talbir Bains

Hyperion Insurance Group, has confirmed the permanent appointment of Talbir Bains as Chief Executive Officer of DUAL Group, the world’s largest international MGA.

After an externally conducted executive review led by Clem Booth, Non-Executive Chairman of DUAL Group, the DUAL Board has confirmed that Bains, who recently finalised the capacity for the $300m GWP Financial Lines section of DUAL's new International Treaty structure, should be appointed to the role on a permanent basis.

Bains joined DUAL in April 2015 as Chief Underwriting Officer.  He took on the role of CEO of the Group in an interim capacity in October 2015.  Prior to joining DUAL he held a number of senior leadership roles at QBE.

David Saillen

Liberty Specialty Markets has appointed David Saillen as Head of Fine Art & Specie – Continental Europe.

Mr Saillen joined LSM on 4th January 2016 and reports to Michael Burle, LSM’s Global Product Line leader for Fine Art & Specie. He is based in LSM’s Zurich office and will cover the whole of Continental Europe.

Michael Burle said: “David’s appointment reinforces our commitment to expand our renowned Fine Art & Specie account on a broader international scale. This is a class of business where we see a considerable number of opportunities across Europe as well as internationally. David’s experience writing this class means that he will strengthen our team across Continental Europe.”

Matthew Foote

ArgoGlobal, has announced the appointment of Matthew Foote as Head of Exposure Management, effective immediately. He will report to Gail Sumner, Head of Business Delivery Services.

Matthew brings more than two decades of exposure management and risk analysis experience to ArgoGlobal. He joins from MSIG at Lloyd’s where he served as Head of Exposure Management and Catastrophe Risk. In this role he was responsible for the production of the Syndicate’s exposure analytics strategy, the development of its catastrophe management function and the significant growth of its analytics team.

Jerome Halgan

Arch Reinsurance Company has announced that Jerome Halgan has been promoted to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Arch Reinsurance Company. Tim Olson will continue to serve as the Company’s Chairman.

In his new role, Mr. Halgan will assume responsibility for the overall management of Arch Reinsurance Company from its headquarters in Morristown, New Jersey. Nicolas Papadopoulo, Chief Executive Officer, Reinsurance Group, Arch Capital Group Ltd., said: “We are thrilled that due to the reinsurance group’s considerable bench-strength, we were able to promote from within Arch. I am confident that Jerome is the right choice to lead Arch Reinsurance Company in this challenging market.  XL Catlin's Global Claims operation has appointed Cynthia Koehler as Global Practice Leader for Casualty claims.  In her new role, Ms. Koehler is responsible for overseeing a global casualty claims team of technical practice leaders that drive the resolution of XL Catlin's largest, most complex casualty claims. Based in Hartford, Ms. Koehler reports to XL Catlin's Global Head of Claims Anthony Vidovich. 

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Vidovich said: "At XL Catlin we are focused on delivering excellence in claims service, wherever and whenever needed. Cindy shares our vision, motivation and ambition and has the experience to ensure we deliver the globally consistent, but market flexible service that we promise to our clients.  This service mission is at the core of our business and similarly reflects Cindy's approach to claims."

Ms. Koehler's global responsibilities include establishing best practices across XL Catlin's casualty claims team, monitoring XL Catlin's casualty loss exposures, providing guidance on technical claims decisions, emerging claims exposure trends and subrogation activity.
