Michael Herron

Allied World Assurance Company Holdings,has  announced that Michael Herron was appointed Vice President, Professional Liability – Allied World Global Markets. Based in Sydney, Australia, Mr. Herron will be responsible for growth and development of the Company’s Australian Professional Liability business and will report to Ben Howell, Senior Vice President, Australia Country Manager and Head of Professional Liability Division, Asia Pacific.

Michael Garrison, Senior Vice President of Asia-Pacific for Allied World Global Markets, commented “Michael brings significant industry experience and a proven track record in professional liability insurance. He is a valuable addition to our team and will build on the great work done to date expanding our presence in an important market.”

Mr. Herron has 22 years of experience in professional liability insurance. He has previously held regional underwriting management roles with global insurers, most recently based in Sydney at XL Catlin where he was Australasia Leader for Financial Lines.

JLT Specialty USA
Perry Robinson

JLT Specialty has announced the appointment of Perry Robinson as Senior Vice President.

Based out of Houston, Robinson will assist JLT’s clients with identification, management and mitigation of complex risks in the cyber and technology fields.

Matthew Foote

ArgoGlobal, the Lloyd’s insurer and member of Argo Group, today announced the appointment of Matthew Foote as Head of Exposure Management, effective immediately. He will report to Gail Sumner, Head of Business Delivery Services.

Matthew brings more than two decades of exposure management and risk analysis experience to ArgoGlobal. He joins from MSIG at Lloyd’s where he served as Head of Exposure Management and Catastrophe Risk. In this role he was responsible for the production of the Syndicate’s exposure analytics strategy, the development of its catastrophe management function and the significant growth of its analytics team. Prior to this, Matthew served as Senior Director, Natural Catastrophe and Portfolio Solutions at Risk Management Solutions where he was tasked with leading all Solvency II activity. Matthew has a PhD in Physical Geography Research from Birkbeck College at the University of London and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

Zurich Insurance Group
Mario Greco

Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich) announced yesterday that its Board of Directors has appointed Mario Greco (56, Italian) to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective May 1, 2016. He will succeed Tom de Swaan, who has held the role on an ad interim basis since Martin Senn stepped down in December 2015.

Mr. Greco has served as CEO of Generali since 2012, where he spearheaded a three-year turn around program to boost profitability and strengthen the Italian insurer’s balance sheet. Before that he worked with Zurich. He joined Zurich in October 2007 as the designated CEO Global Life and a member of the Group Executive Committee and was appointed CEO Global Life in April 2008. In 2010 he was appointed CEO General Insurance, a role he held until 2012. His original appointment to Zurich followed a highly successful career in the European insurance markets, latterly as CEO of RAS (Allianz Group) in Milan.

JLT Specialty USA
Brian Taliaferro

JLT Specialty USA, has announced the appointment of Brian Taliaferro as Senior Vice President for the Entertainment and Hospitality practice.

Taliaferro, who will be based in JLT’s Los Angeles office, will lead the company’s Gaming and Hospitality Practice, in addition to developing and managing relationships with clients in the Entertainment Practice. He will also bring JLT his unique understanding of complex risk and insurance challenges of large, multinational gaming companies, regional casino operators, and tribal gaming entities.

Bill Thygeson

Everest Re Group, Ltd. has announced the appointment of Bill Thygeson to the position of Chief Administration Officer of Everest Insurance reporting directly to Jonathan Zaffino, President. He is responsible for several facets of the Company’s operational platform with a core focus on technology and its impact on our business processes for underwriting and claims, and will also assume a variety of administrative functions.

Bill joined Everest Insurance with more than 20 years of U.S. and international experience in business development, operating management, strategic planning, and transformational leadership. Most recently, Bill served as Chief Operating Officer for Hamilton Insurance, where he oversaw the build out of the U.S. insurance platform and had direct responsibility for a variety of operational and administrative functions. Prior to Hamilton, Bill spent a decade working for AIG in similar operational capacities and began his career in the banking industry. He is a graduate of Lafayette College, received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and proudly served in the US Air Force as an intelligence officer.

Safety National Re
Charles Puno

Safety National Re has announced that Charles Puno has joined the company as Vice President.

With over 25 years of industry-related insurance and reinsurance experience, Puno brings an extensive background to Safety National Re, including a particular focus in the management and underwriting of medical and non-medical professional liability treaty reinsurance business.

In his new capacity with Safety National Re, Puno will be responsible for the production and underwriting of broker market professional liability treaty reinsurance opportunities.

“We are excited to add Charles Puno to our team,” said Ray Harkins, Senior Vice President and head of Safety National Re. “Charles’ specialized industry knowledge, combined with his strong broker and client relationships, will serve to further expand and enhance our reinsurance platform.”

Puno will be based out of Indianapolis.

Ronald Gleason

Ironshore has named Ronald Gleason as its new global energy industry practice leader.

Gleason is currently Ironshore’s regional executive for South Central, based in Houston. He will continue in that role, as well as be responsible for developing integrated insurance solutions for the energy sector in alignment with Ironshore underwriting specialists throughout its global platform.

Jennifer Martin

Pen Underwriting has announced that Jennifer Martin has been promoted to Managing Director of Financial Lines, taking responsibility for UK and International business across the spectrum of e-traded, individually underwritten and delegated authority solutions.

As part of Pen Underwriting’s Specialty division, led by Managing Director Tom Downey, the newly consolidated Financial Lines capability will ensure coverholders and brokers can access its specialist facilities and expertise for professional indemnity, directors’ & officers’, personal accident & travel and cyber risks all in one place — whatever type of underwriting solution they are looking for.

With more than 25 years’ financial lines experience, Jennifer joined Pen Underwriting in January 2015 as MD of International Delegated Solutions (then trading as OIM Underwriting) to build and lead the expansion of its specialist delegated authority business into international territories. This enabled all coverholders to benefit from tailor-made access to Lloyd’s and London market capacity without being restricted by class of business, market sector or location.

James Shevlin

Chubb has announced a new leadership team for the Southeast Region of the company's North America field organization, effective February 15, 2016.

James M. Shevlin will serve as Senior Vice President, North America Insurance and Regional Executive Officer (REO) of the Southeast Region. Mr. Shevlin, who was named in an earlier announcement as Regional Chief Operating Officer (RCOO) for the Southeast Region, will assume responsibilities that were previously announced for D. Scott Dalton, who will retire from Chubb on February 15.  Mr. Shevlin will report to Harold L. Morrison, Jr., Senior Vice President, Chubb Group, and Division President, Field Operations for the North America Insurance div

As REO, Mr. Shevlin will be responsible for executing the underwriting and sales strategies of Chubb's business units, staff management, production, profit and loss, and distribution management in the Southeast Region, which is one of eight North America Insurance regions across the United States and Canada. In addition to his REO duties, Mr. Shevlin will manage the Atlanta office.
Barbara A. Wittick will serve as RCOO of the Southeast Region and report to Mr. Shevlin. Currently, Ms. Wittick is Senior Vice President and Tampa Branch Manager for Chubb. In addition to her RCOO duties, Ms. Wittick will lead the Tampa branch office, and the Birmingham, Nashville and Charlotte branch offices will report to her.
