Brian Taliaferro

JLT Specialty USA, has announced the appointment of Brian Taliaferro as Senior Vice President for the Entertainment and Hospitality practice.

Taliaferro, who will be based in JLT’s Los Angeles office, will lead the company’s Gaming and Hospitality Practice, in addition to developing and managing relationships with clients in the Entertainment Practice. He will also bring JLT his unique understanding of complex risk and insurance challenges of large, multinational gaming companies, regional casino operators, and tribal gaming entities.

Bill Thygeson

Everest Re Group, Ltd. has announced the appointment of Bill Thygeson to the position of Chief Administration Officer of Everest Insurance reporting directly to Jonathan Zaffino, President. He is responsible for several facets of the Company’s operational platform with a core focus on technology and its impact on our business processes for underwriting and claims, and will also assume a variety of administrative functions.

Bill joined Everest Insurance with more than 20 years of U.S. and international experience in business development, operating management, strategic planning, and transformational leadership. Most recently, Bill served as Chief Operating Officer for Hamilton Insurance, where he oversaw the build out of the U.S. insurance platform and had direct responsibility for a variety of operational and administrative functions. Prior to Hamilton, Bill spent a decade working for AIG in similar operational capacities and began his career in the banking industry. He is a graduate of Lafayette College, received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and proudly served in the US Air Force as an intelligence officer.

Safety National Re
Charles Puno

Safety National Re has announced that Charles Puno has joined the company as Vice President.

With over 25 years of industry-related insurance and reinsurance experience, Puno brings an extensive background to Safety National Re, including a particular focus in the management and underwriting of medical and non-medical professional liability treaty reinsurance business.

In his new capacity with Safety National Re, Puno will be responsible for the production and underwriting of broker market professional liability treaty reinsurance opportunities.

“We are excited to add Charles Puno to our team,” said Ray Harkins, Senior Vice President and head of Safety National Re. “Charles’ specialized industry knowledge, combined with his strong broker and client relationships, will serve to further expand and enhance our reinsurance platform.”

Puno will be based out of Indianapolis.

Ronald Gleason

Ironshore has named Ronald Gleason as its new global energy industry practice leader.

Gleason is currently Ironshore’s regional executive for South Central, based in Houston. He will continue in that role, as well as be responsible for developing integrated insurance solutions for the energy sector in alignment with Ironshore underwriting specialists throughout its global platform.

Jennifer Martin

Pen Underwriting has announced that Jennifer Martin has been promoted to Managing Director of Financial Lines, taking responsibility for UK and International business across the spectrum of e-traded, individually underwritten and delegated authority solutions.

As part of Pen Underwriting’s Specialty division, led by Managing Director Tom Downey, the newly consolidated Financial Lines capability will ensure coverholders and brokers can access its specialist facilities and expertise for professional indemnity, directors’ & officers’, personal accident & travel and cyber risks all in one place — whatever type of underwriting solution they are looking for.

With more than 25 years’ financial lines experience, Jennifer joined Pen Underwriting in January 2015 as MD of International Delegated Solutions (then trading as OIM Underwriting) to build and lead the expansion of its specialist delegated authority business into international territories. This enabled all coverholders to benefit from tailor-made access to Lloyd’s and London market capacity without being restricted by class of business, market sector or location.

James Shevlin

Chubb has announced a new leadership team for the Southeast Region of the company's North America field organization, effective February 15, 2016.

James M. Shevlin will serve as Senior Vice President, North America Insurance and Regional Executive Officer (REO) of the Southeast Region. Mr. Shevlin, who was named in an earlier announcement as Regional Chief Operating Officer (RCOO) for the Southeast Region, will assume responsibilities that were previously announced for D. Scott Dalton, who will retire from Chubb on February 15.  Mr. Shevlin will report to Harold L. Morrison, Jr., Senior Vice President, Chubb Group, and Division President, Field Operations for the North America Insurance div

As REO, Mr. Shevlin will be responsible for executing the underwriting and sales strategies of Chubb's business units, staff management, production, profit and loss, and distribution management in the Southeast Region, which is one of eight North America Insurance regions across the United States and Canada. In addition to his REO duties, Mr. Shevlin will manage the Atlanta office.
Barbara A. Wittick will serve as RCOO of the Southeast Region and report to Mr. Shevlin. Currently, Ms. Wittick is Senior Vice President and Tampa Branch Manager for Chubb. In addition to her RCOO duties, Ms. Wittick will lead the Tampa branch office, and the Birmingham, Nashville and Charlotte branch offices will report to her.


Chairatch Phrompechrut

PartnerRe Ltd. has announced that Chairatch Phrompechrut has been appointed to the position of Head of Strategic Ventures. Mr. Phrompechrut will report to Marvin Pestcoe, CEO Life, Health and Strategic Ventures. In this position, Mr. Phrompechrut will lead the effort to pursue investments in business development opportunities and partnerships.

Mr. Phrompechrut joined PartnerRe in 2008 and has held several positions in the company’s investment function, most recently as Head of Private Equity.

Commenting on Mr Phrompechrut’s appointment, Mr. Pestcoe said, “I am very pleased to appoint Chai to Head of Strategic Ventures. I am confident that under Chai’s leadership the Strategic Ventures group will be successful in giving PartnerRe access to new attractive business opportunities.”



Liberty Specialty Markets
Eve Li

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed its first representative in Beijing, China.

Eve Li is based at LICCL’s Beijing branch and will underwrite a range of reinsurance business lines for LSM’s Underwriting Division of LICCL. She was formerly a China-based Energy and Construction Underwriter for Liberty for five years. Previously LSM had underwritten a range of Chinese reinsurance business via its London and Paris offices. Eve’s appointment means that treaty and facultative reinsurance lines of business can now be written locally in China by LSM’s Underwriting Division of LICCL.

John McCammon, LSM’s head of international network offices, said: “Growing our presence in China has always been our goal as we see considerable potential in this market. We are now planning to add to our Beijing presence with a new representative in Shanghai during 2016. This move also allows us to continue underwriting Chinese reinsurance risks in the most effective way possible given the regulatory changes taking place in China.”

JLT Specialty USA has named Robert Trinkleback as its new Senior Vice President, Casualty Risk Control Leader at JLT’s Chicago office.

Trinkleback, who most recently served as Executive Vice President of Safety & Risk Management Consulting at Krauter & Company, brings over 30 years of experience designing and executing professional safety and risk management programs to his new position.

ACE Limited  announced the key leaders it intends to appoint for the Asia Pacific region of the new Chubb Group’s Overseas General Insurance division, which includes Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Macao, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. The leadership appointments will take effect upon completion of the acquisition of Chubb, which is expected in the first quarter of 2016.

Juan Luis Ortega will serve as Senior Vice President of the new Chubb Group and Regional President, Asia Pacific. The leaders reporting to Mr. Ortega will include:

Paul McNamee will serve as Deputy Regional President and Executive Vice President, Commercial Property & Casualty, Asia Pacific. Currently, Mr. McNamee is Deputy Regional President and Executive Vice President, Property & Casualty, for ACE’s Asia Pacific region.

Glen Browne will serve as Senior Vice President, Accident & Health, Asia Pacific. Currently, Mr. Browne is Senior Vice President, Accident & Health, for ACE’s Asia Pacific region.

Kevin Bogardus will join the Asia Pacific leadership team as Managing Director, China. Currently, Mr. Bogardus is Managing Director of ACE Division at Lloyd's China.
