Alice G Vaidyan

The Ministry of Finance has named Mrs Alice G Vaidyan as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of GIC Re, India's national reinsurer. She is the first woman to hold the post. The appointment takes immediate effect. She will hold office till 31 July 2019.

Ms Vaidyan, a well known figure in the international market as a reinsurance expert, was previously General Manager and CFO of the company, positions she held since 2012.

The GIC Re top post has been vacant since Mr Ashok Kumar Roy retired from the position at the end of last July. From 1 August last year until Mrs Vaidyan's appointment, Mr K Sanath Kumar served as Acting Chairman and Managing Director of the state-owned reinsurance company.

Aon Benfield
Andrew Laing

Aon Benfield has announced the appointment of Andrew Laing, as CEO of the firm's facultative reinsurance unit. Prior to this, Laing was Chief Broking Officer at Aon Risk Solutions, London.

Xavier Durand

The Board of Directors of Coface has decided to appoint Xavier Durand to the position of Chief Executive Officer. This appointment will become effective following the Board of Directors’ meeting to be held on 9 February to approve the accounts for fiscal year 2015. Jean-Marc Pillu will continue in his role as Chief Executive Officer of Coface until this date.

The Board thanks Jean-Marc Pillu for the action he has led over the last 5 years with great commitment and focus on results. In particular, since 2011 he has given Coface new impetus, with a development strategy recentred on its core credit insurance business. Thanks to the significant improvement in results generated as a consequence, he implemented the successful IPO of around 60% of the group’s capital, and negotiated the organisation of the transfer of the public guarantees activity to the French Public Investment Bank (Bpifrance).

QBE Asia Pacific has announced the appoitment of Anthony Cloney as General  Director Vietnam, effective 1st January 2016.

Liberty International Underwriters
Diana Cossetti

Liberty International Underwriters (LIU) has named Diana Cossetti as senior vice president of LIU’s U.S. Casualty operation, newly-created underwriting leadership role overseeing Primary Casualty, Excess Casualty, Environmental, Railroad and Crisis Management.

Cossetti will be based in New York and report directly to Michael Finnegan, LIU’s chief underwriting officer for U.S. operations.

Cossetti brings 28 years of insurance industry experience to LIU, including the last 14 years in senior executive positions with Crum & Forster.  Her background is in both retail and wholesale markets.

JLT Specialty USA
Cari Hernandez

JLT Specialty USA, has announced the appointment of Cari Hernandez as Senior Vice President for its Entertainment and Hospitality practice.

Hernandez will be based in JLT’s Los Angeles office, where she will be managing the needs of a number of complex clients in gaming, resorts, events, sports and leisure.

Hernandez joins JLT following 12 years at Aon Risk Solutions as Senior Vice President of Global Strategy in the Entertainment practice with a primary focus on gaming and live events. Prior to her role at Aon, Hernandez served as Vice President of Near North Insurance Brokerage.
Joanne Allen

ArgoGlobal, has announced the appointment of Joanne Allen as Underwriter - North American Binding Authorities and Mortgage Impairment / Real Estate Owned, effective immediately. She will report to Matt Stollery, Property Binding Authorities Class Underwriter.

Joanne joins ArgoGlobal from Ark Syndicate Management Limited where she served as Property Programmes Underwriter. In this role, she was responsible for the launch and build of the North American Binding Authority division. Her product knowledge and network of coverholder and broker relationships enabled her to rapidly develop a highly successful book of business. Joanne began her career with Wellington Underwriting in 2000, initially as a Risk Modelling Assistant, before quickly moving to the North American Binding Authority team as an Underwriting Assistant.

Matthew Foote

ArgoGlobal, has announced the appointment of Matthew Foote as Head of Exposure Management, effective immediately. He will report to Gail Sumner, Head of Business Delivery Services.

Matthew brings more than two decades of exposure management and risk analysis experience to ArgoGlobal. He joins from MSIG at Lloyd’s where he served as Head of Exposure Management and Catastrophe Risk. In this role he was responsible for the production of the Syndicate’s exposure analytics strategy, the development of its catastrophe management function and the significant growth of its analytics team.

Lockton Companies
Ben Beeson

Lockton Companies has appointed Ben Beeson its Cyber Risk Practice Leader. Beeson will work with the insurance broker’s leading team of cyber insurance professionals to guide companies through an increasingly challenging cyber risk environment. Lockton is the world’s largest privately held, independent insurance broker.

Beeson will continue to be based in Lockton’s Washington, DC office, where he had previously worked as a client executive. He relocated to the US two years ago from Lockton’s London operation where he began his work in cyber risk.

Martin Stephenson

JLT Re has announced  that Martin Stephenson will join its market leading Marine and Energy Division.

Martin will work closely with the Division's head, Nick Jay, and its senior leadership, chairing the Division's Management Committee. He will also join the JLT Re UK & Europe Broker Management Committee.

Commenting on the appointment Keith Harrison, CEO, UK & Europe, said “This is a great hire for JLT Re, we are delighted that Martin will be joining the team bringing over 25 years of market expertise and an excellent reputation with clients and colleagues.”

Martin was previously Managing Director of the combined reinsurance business of Cooper Gay & Co Ltd (Cooper Gay), and Newman Martin and Buchan LLP (NMB). He joined NMB in 1990 and held a number of key senior roles before becoming MD.
