James Andlaw - Paul Nolan

Probitas 1492 has announced the launch of a Financial Lines team with the appointment of James Andlaw, Senior Underwriter-Management Liability and Paul Nolan, Senior Underwriter-Professional Indemnity.

The Lloyd’s syndicate has also recruited a Head of Financial Lines, who will drive the team, and a Senior Underwriter–Financial Institutions.  Both are set to join the company before the summer.

The team will write across all sectors, with capacity of US$15million and cover will be available globally. Particular focus will be on developing new and accretive business in countries where Lloyd’s is currently underweight; across Europe, MENA, Asia and South America.

Ben Savill

Fidelis Insurance has announced the promotion of Ben Savill to Group Chief Underwriting Officer.

He assumes this role from Richard Brindle who held it jointly with his position as Group Chief Executive Officer during the inaugural phase of the company, which was founded in June 2015. Savill will assume the Group CUO role in addition to his responsibilities as Bermuda Chief Executive Officer and will continue to be based in Bermuda.

Victor Kuk has joined Swiss Re as Head Hub Casualty Asia, based in Hong Kong.

He has more than 15 years of experience in general insurance management especially in strategic planning, business restructuring resulting in profit optimisation, and operation process streamlining.

Prior to joining Swiss Re, he was Chief Risk Officer of Emerging Markets at QBE Insurance Group Limited since October 2014.

Lloyd’s, the world’s specialist insurance and reinsurance market, has announced the appointment of Shankar Garigiparthy as Country Manager for India.

In this new role Shankar will be responsible for market development, representing Lloyd’s in discussions with regulators and building business relationships as Lloyd’s seeks to grow its presence in India. Arun Agarwal, Lloyd’s General Representative in India, will continue in his role providing expert guidance and counsel to Lloyd’s.

Under the leadership of Donnet, Generali Italia accomplished a rapid integration of its business activities, along with a substantial simplification and rationalization of distribution networks, brands, products, operating and organizational structure.

James Gerry

The Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) has announced the election of James Gerry as chairman following the first meeting of its new board on Monday.

James was appointed following a vote by fellow board members, in line with the MGAA’s Articles of Association. He has been a board director since February 2012 and is chairman of GB Underwriting. James succeeds Reg Brown, a founder of the Association and its first chair, who announced his retirement in February.
